How to connect Blackberry Phone as a Modem.
Not all blackberry phones has inbuilt hotspot functionality that can share internet connections via wifi to computer. This tutorial will enable us to know how to connect blackberry phone as a modem to a computer.
To use your BlackBerry as a modem, you must first install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software and the Desktop Manager software must be running in the background. When these prerequisites are complete follow these steps to get your computer connected to the internet through your Blackberry.
Steps how to use blackberry phones as modem on computer
- First you will need to install Blackberry Desktop Manager software on your computer, this usually comes in a CD along with a newly purchased blackberry devices but if you don’t have you can download it on blackberry website here
- After successful installation of the Blackberry Desktop Manager, connect your Blackberry smartphone to your computer via a USB cable; wait till it recognises your phone by displaying your phones details.
- After it has connected, click on “mobile internet” option on the left bottom corner of the Blackberry Desktop manager, a list of mobile service providers will be listed, you can select from the list but if you don’t find your carrier click on the “Add custom” button, A Box will appear for filling settings.
- In the settings box you can fill all your necessary settings e.g for Mascom settings type in any name as profile name like Mascom Conf then username and password as ‘web’ then access point as ‘blackberry.net’
- Click ok and then save.
Now you can use your blackberry phones as modems.
